A Geranium for Nell
After making a Geranium dress for Bea I loved the pattern so much I wanted to make a coordinating one for Nell. I also wanted to try cross stitching onto fabric using waste canvas so I decided to combine the two projects and came up with this cross stitched heart Geranium.
I lined the sleeves again just because I'm not a huge fan of the raw edge look, this time using the floral fabric on the outside as well. I cross stitched a simple heart on the bodice and was really pleased with the way it turned out. The waste canvas was great and I love a bit of embroidery on handmade kids clothes, it makes them feel a little bit more special. I used the same linen look cotton for the skirt as it is so soft and lovely, especially after a few washes. I may even make myself something from it!
I made the dress back in July but only recently managed to snap a couple of photos of her wearing it - she never stays still these days!

Bea's rainbow dress
I found this unfinished dress that I started to make for Bea last summer. It was mostly sewn up - it just needed a button and some details. I'm thinking it was probably the arrival of little sis that put this project on the back burner!
Luckily it still fits (just a bit shorter than intended!) so I decided to finnish it off. It definitely needed colour so I added some little pockets made from vintage fabric. When I showed it to Bea she insisted it was lacking in the rainbow department so after a brief head scratch I added a quick running stitch rainbow to one side. Its slightly crazy but I like it!

A few finished projects
As the biggest project round here is finally nearly finished (the new baby is due next week) I have been trying to get a few other things finished.
The nursery is done but has nothing on the walls yet so I made this little embroidered initial and elephant.
Bea has been ousted from her cot bed as we needed it for the nursery so to make the transition to big bed more appealing I made her a couple of new cushions (she is a girl who loves cushions) with this very cool vintage fabric I bought on Etsy (here)
And finally a little dress for the baby to match this top I made Bea a while ago. Hopefully we can get some cute photos of them in their matching clothes!

New work in progress

Now the knitting is out of the way I have finally started on the Daisy Chain sampler kit. I'm on my third letter now and really enjoying it. I haven't got much embroidery experience so I'm sure mine won't look quite as perfect as Alicias but I am trying my best to keep it neat!

A bit of a hint

Just incase a certain husband needs any ideas about what to get his wife for a 3rd anniversary present he might want to preorder one of Alicia Paulson's beautiful sampler kits by 10th of May. Like all Alicia's work it is stunning and the colour palette is perfect.
Apparently leather is the traditional gift for a 3rd wedding anniversary but I'd be much happier with cotton and yarn to get stuck into my own sampler.
Thats the 10TH OF MAY. :)
