Easter

Hello,  hope you had a nice Easter break.  My favourite thing about Easter is these puffy little chicks that appear in the shops.

I have this pack that my sister bought me a few years ago.  I have never used them for anything and in fact they have never been taken off their card because all the pleasure I get from the little things can be got just by staring at them.  I don't know what it is about them but I could look at them all day and nearly explode with the enjoyment.  It might be because they are so tiny, or so fluffy, or because I love their little faces but I am obsessed by them.  As a student I worked in a card shop and every Easter we would get boxes of these things in in all different sizes.  I would hardly be able to get any work done until we sold out.

This Easter, as well as staring at little wired chicks we spent a couple of days with my sister and her family.  I got to see some of my knitting in action:

Here is the little green dress and shoes combo modeled by the very cute Tilly.

And apparently these booties (the first thing I ever knitted) make perfect slippers.

She also wore the other booties I made her but was only sporting one in a bold style move so I didn't get a picture.

New Birds

We had to postpone valentines day this year as I was too ill to even buy a card for my poor husband but now I'm pretty much back on my feet we decided on a way to celebrate.

Last Saturday we went down to Upper Street and chose a print to go with this one.  We have had a second frame ready and waiting for ages so it is finally filled.  Both prints are by unknown artists but are very similar in style.  They look pretty good together!

Brown Paper Packages

Some Little Green Button items ready for posting.  The booties were custom made for someone and are a variation on my favourite bootie pattern.  The package is a mini Little Red Riding Hood book safely wrapped up in brown paper.  I like wrapping parcels to send out, its like christmas!

Work space

Friday at last!  This weekend we are going to hunt for a new desk.  With the baby due in September I am having to move my work space from our second bedroom to our (luckily very large!) living room.  We are starting to get this organised now as it will probably take 5 months just to sort through the mountains of stuff I have accumulated. Imagine the image below with about a million other things covering the floor.

Sneak preview

My Little Red Riding Hood books have proved a very popular item in my new Etsy shop so I have decided to do another little book.  Hopefully it won't take me quite as long to finish as the last one did!  At least I already have the first three pages done for this one that I did ages ago and abandoned.  Having a purpose should encourage me to get on with the rest at last.

Heres a little look at the first page...

Annoying weather

It keeps raining then not raining today and is really really windy which is my most annoying kind of weather!

Just back from a trek into London to get some specific paper I have only found in Paperchase on Tottenham Court Road and afterwards met up with my husband for a quick trip to John Lewis.  I really wanted to get some yarn to start crocheting a baby blanket but couldn't find the right kind in the right colour so the search goes on.  While there we had a quick look at nursery furniture.  We have ages yet to pick something but have started mulling over some options for the baby's room. I love this nursery below, found at ohdeedoh.com.

Love the colours and textures.

Piggy

Ok, back to the illustration today.  Heres a little image I did for Event magazine recently.  The client pretty much knew what they wanted so it was a nice fun job!

Crochet break

Hello.  I thought I'd take a break from illustration updates today to talk about some crochet stuff instead.  I decided to learn to crochet after I discovered I love knitting so much and found it just as addictive.  My favourite crochet project so far is this little blue bunny that is now for sale in my etsy shop.

I just love the slightly concerned look on his face and those enormous ears!  If you would like to give this little rabbit a home in time for easter you can find him here.

More Illustration News

So I just got home from my walk to the post office and found the new issue of Bust magazine on my door mat.  I did some drawings for Bust recently - I knew they were going to be used for tea towel embroidery patterns but today is the first time I have seen them converted from my black and white pen drawings into the finished article.  I think they look quite good.  You will be able to download the patterns here soon if you fancy a go!
